Matt is a dedicated HSE professional who has 15 years’ experience in growing and being a part of high performing, healthy teams. Matt believes in a strength-based approach, encouraging organisations and individuals to grow through continuous improvement, being respectful, empowerment and supporting his peers to be their very best through positive means.

Matt’s journey has allowed him to transition between blue and white-collar positions, along the way collaborating with Tier 1 organisations including BHP, Santos, Broadspectrum Downer EDI, Clough, Santos, and Liberty. Getting his hands dirty by building hands-on operational experience in Mining (Surface and Underground) Construction, Civil, Electrical, Renewables (Wind and Solar), Power production, Steel Works, Major Construction Projects.

Matt is actively passionate about continuing to build his knowledge in supporting his networks’ relationship with the health, safety, and the wellbeing of people. And is committed to helping his networks improve key elements of their safety governance framework, working collaboratively ensuring continuous improvement and achieving a safe work environment.

Throughout his career Matt has been influential in the development of safety systems in high-risk, fast-paced environments with the requirements to execute and lead by example utilising his skills to have a positive influence on all levels of stakeholder engagement.

Matt’s key strengths, qualifications and achievements include:
• Senior safety lead on various major projects and shutdowns throughout Australia and Papua New Guinea.
• Conduct internal and external audits to ensure compliance to Australian ISO Standards and gap analysis for Self-insurance.
• Contribute towards the development implementation of all Safety Systems (Permit to Work, Training, Risk Assessments, Registers, Management Plans, Plant and Equipment). Liaise with leadership to ensure ongoing improvement and success of project initiatives.
• Promote people and culture initiatives and develop programs and surveys to boost employee recognition and wellbeing connection to help people flourish.
• Certificate IV WHS

• Diploma in Counselling
• ICAM Lead investigator

Matt is constantly looking to learn and gain new skills and be as versatile as possible. Improving his knowledge and staying current to ensure he continues to have a daily impact on the people he meets along the way.
