Digital Learning Manager
Shamus is the Digital Learning Manager for HSE Global, bringing a broad range of technical expertise and delivery experience to the role from his 20+ years building and implementing online training programmes in Australia, Europe, Scandinavia, Middle East, Asia and North America.
Prior to joining HSE Global, Shamus spent a number of years in the UK and Australia working for a large ASX listed company in their Compliance and Assurance divisions. During this time, he was both the technical lead, working on enterprise HRIS and Learning Management Systems, and responsible for service teams undertaking large scale elearning programmes involving up to 100,000 employees in multiple regions, jurisdictions and languages. The combination of this together with several years’ experience implementing software-based risk, compliance and incident management systems for Australian companies in the Mining, Energy, Utility and Finance sectors has given him a keen appreciation of the importance of designing systems that scale robustly.
In addition to enjoying working on large programmes for organisations such as Shell, Rio Tinto, Vestas and Coles, Shamus is also committed to providing online training solutions for smaller organisations, as well as individuals or small groups in large organisations. Building out training platforms for these learners with just-in-time requirements in the areas of transport safety, incident investigation and management systems has been particularly satisfying, especially as he began his career working in a university research group designing multimedia-enabling technologies to support students learning with a very diverse range of circumstances and abilities.
Shamus resides in Sydney with his wife and two children and, when he can, enjoys ocean swimming and the outdoors.
